Abstract Taking “Sesame Street” as an example, Jan Uwe Rogge analyses, how children deal with their fantasies and emotions. Rogge discusses the importance of the magical fantastical phase of children which lies between the age of four and extends to primary school age.
Based on this he proposes some preconditions for an age-compatible programme conception.

Rogge, Jan Uwe Jan-Uwe Rogge is family- and communication-advisor with his own practice. He is author of many books published by the Rowohlt-Verlag. A seleciton of his most famous books is “Kinder brauchen Grenzen”, "Ängste machen Kinder stark", "Der große Erziehungsberater", "Kinder können Fernsehen" which were translated in more than 15 languages.
