Abstract

Using the Iraq war as an example, Ingrid Geretschlaeger presents a model of media literacy for educators. The main objectives pointed out in Geretschlaeger’s model of media education are a critical viewpoint as well as the ability to express oneself through media. In this context she also considers the problem of dealing with fears transferred by the media.

Geretschlaeger, Ingrid

Born in 1952 in Austria, Ingrid Geretschlaeger (PhD.) is head of the media educational information centre at the "Nö Landesakademie" in Baden near Vienna and editor of the "KuK inform" online newsletter of the same academy.
