Abstract The tabloids being a a ‘set topic’ in Media Studies, Roy Stafford has put together typical features of a tabloid such as shape, leading, type size, typefaces, content, typography, etc. These features are described and commented on. In his paper, he also compares two of the main tabloids in the UK: the Daily Mail and the Sun. |

Stafford, Roy Roy Stafford works as a freelance provider of media education services and offers training for teachers wishing to increase their knowledge and understanding of media education in schools and colleges. He has extensive experience at all levels of formal education, but primarily 14-19 and adult education. Roy Stafford and colleagues from 'in the picture' run the Media Education Certificate course at Trinity All Saints College, Leeds.
