Abstract The differences between “mainstream” media education and teleologically defined media education is dealt with in this article by Seppo Tella. “The former tends to focus on analysing the messages of mass communication, while the latter is more interested in the educational applications of modern information and communication technologies, open and distance learning and virtual pedagogy”. The transformation of media education as well as some of its central principles are described here. |
