Abstract

“We [...] believe that educational needs rather than technological developments should increasingly drive the design of tools for on-line teaching and learning”. This statement of intent is borne out by the authors’ outline of the pedagogical needs which could stimulate new developments in on-line environments and the tools required to create them. The writers go on to explore pedagogical methods and to define the various types of features needed to provide flexibility.
